Hi, I am Accer.
My real name is Joel Heim. I am a college professor in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have a Ph.D. in religion and social ethics from the University of Southern California (2000).
A few years back, I was at a hard time in my life financially (and otherwise as well, but that is a different story). I decided to turn to the internet to see if I could help out my financial situation. What I found was a real disappointment as I got scammed and ripped-off repeatedly. I was so mad at this situation that I created Accertruth in 2005 as a place that would cut through the scams and the hype and tell the truth about what is a rip-off and what is legitimate. As I went forward, I also made plenty of my own mistakes. From all of this, I learned a great deal and have discovered what works and what does not. I discovered who to trust and who not to trust. You can now draw from and learn from my experience and avoid wasting a lot of time and a lot of money. This is what AccerTruth is all about. It is about telling the truth and working together to create profitable, legitimate and ethical home businesses. If you are looking for get rich quick schemes go somewhere else (where you will get scammed). If you are willing to take the time and effort to build a legitimate and potentially lucrative home business, then you have come to the right place.
So where did the name AccerTruth and Accer come from? Well, Accer was a nickname I already used online. It comes from my love of the game of golf and my hope that some day I will get a hole-in-one, an ace. Yes, I know I spell it wrong. That is because Acer was already taken online and so I became Accer. So when I decided to start a website dedicated to telling the truth about making money online, I named my new business, AccerTruth. Originally, I did not use my real name in connection with it, I only used Accer. The reason for this is that there is a bias in academia against such entrepreneurial enterprises. So I was trying to keep my business secret from my academic colleagues. I continue to not mix the two, as I believe it would be unethical for me to do so as a teacher with influence over my students. However, it is no longer possible to keep the secret and I am proud of the success of AccerTruth. So I now use my real name, Joel Heim, with my business AccerTruth.
In actuality, AccerTruth was a terrible name. No one knows what Accer means and in fact it can even sound a bit suspicious. However, I now have too much brand and name recognition to get rid of it. Still, this can be another object lesson for you to learn from–when you pick business or product names do so with care and do not do it in a rush!
